The walk-in in to base camp from Askoli first takes the expedition up the Braldu and Biaho Rivers then up the mighty Baltoro Glacier through Concordia. At Concordia the Goodwin Austen, Upper Baltoro and Vigne Glaciers all converge. It is indeed a trek into the Throne Room of the Mountain Gods as Galen Rowell proclaimed in his book on the 1975 American K2 Expedition.

The 62 km Baltoro Glacier is the third largest in the Karakoram. Along the lower Baltoro are amazing granite towers and sheer walls- Uli Biaho, the Trango Tower, the Cathedrals and the Lobsang group. These rock monster yield above Concordia to the mighty snow covered peaks including seven of the world’s twenty-five highest peaks. K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum range dominate this harsh landscape.

Inshallah (urdu for God-willing) the return trip will take the expedition over Gondogoro La (5650m), concluding at Hushe Village, overshadowed by Mount Masherbrum nearby. The total distance covered via this trek will be 140km.

The trek over Gondogoro La will be dependent on conditions. The alternative exit route for the expedition will be to retrace its steps back down the Baltoro Glacier.
